Fires

To all Australian readers,
I'm holding good thoughts for you, your friends and your families. I've had brush fires around my house for years, with flaming pine branches dropping in my yard, so I know the frightening power, sound and smell of wild fires. Please stay safe.

Update

To my readers elsewhere, you may read what danger our friends are experiencing:

Comments: Are the Australians having fires? That is too bad! I hope all are safe and out of harm's way!
oh gosh! I just read about that! It's awful. I hope you all stay safe! Your horses and other pets too.
Best,
Zoe
My friend lives in Australia.. but she's more of in the neighourhood than close to the Bush. Australia is my favorite country, besides the U.S.A that is. =0)

Wild fires can are extremely terrifying. We had one near us last year, I shudder just thinking about it, and the smell.
Prayers for those in harms way...
Hey, I'm in South Australia, so i'm not experiencing the fires, but the Victorians are right in the heart of it. Apparently theres atleast over 130 deaths now :( Anyone who's from Victoria, I'm sorry if you've lost loved ones and i hope you are all able to stay safe and out of harms way! And i REALLY hope the fires weren't started deliberately. Over here we have 2 days named for hige bushfires, Black Friday which claimed 71 (?) lives and Ash Wednesday which claimed around 75. This is the worst bush fire to ever hit Australia. I hope they can get it under control soon! :(
wow that is scary! I love camp fires and the crackl they make, the feeling they creat, the warm orange glow but to think of them wild and out of control??

A month ago or so there was a small fire in the woods NEXT to our house. Moma nd my brother put it out. turns out a careless neighbor left hot coals there.

Anyway I was afraid and I can only imagen a HUGE fire like that sweeping through the forest!
