Dear Readers,
Lots of you loved Faith, the blind filly in FREE AGAIN and THE WILDEST HEART and you've wondered about Penny, Brynna's blind mustang mare. Your questions have ranged from pity to outright disbelief that a blind horse could have a good life. So, when I did a booksigning last month and talked with Caddie Morgan, Community Relations Manager for Barnes and Noble about her blind mare, I begged her for details and photos.

Here's what Caddie had to say:

"My mare's name is Merry Dee. I could write you a whole book about her and all the things we've done! She's 20 years old, and half Appy, half Quarter Horse. She started losing her sight about 3 years ago. First it was only in the right eye, but now both eyes are affected. She has UV-itis and glaucoma.

Awareness about blindness in horses has sort of become my personal crusade. There are a lot more of them out there than we know, and a lot of them do things you couldn't imagine! I even know about a woman who JUMPS with a blind horse! Thanks for your interest...it would be neat to see my girl on your website."

And here's Caddie with her lovely Merry Dee!
