Coming in 2008

Hold your horses on Saturday, November 3 for a collaborative Author Event from Cheshire Books in Fort Bragg and Gallery Bookshop & Bookwinkle's Children's Books in Mendocino! Terri Farley, author of HarperCollins publisher's ever-popular Phantom Stallion series, will give two back-to-back workshops on the Mendocino coast at the Caspar Community Center.

The day begins at 11:00 a.m. with a one-hour workshop entitled "Hooked on Horses;" an informal talk for horse-lovers of all ages filled with stories and audience interaction that also features "Wild Ones," an original film by Sunny Minedew showing mustangs in the wild, their capture and adoption. "Wild Ones" includes commentary by Terri Farley, filmmaker Minedew, wild horse experts and "mustang" music by country singer Lacy J. Dalton.

"Slug Salad," an imaginative and fun-filled writer's-workshop designed for children and their parents, begins at 1:30 p.m. Through fresh and entertaining interactive games and activities, participants fuse imagination and experience to create powerful writing anyone would be proud to share. This workshop is perfect for teachers as well as parents, and is geared toward helping children write and keep writing.

"Hooked on Horses" is priced at $15.00 per participant, "Slug Salad" at $25 per participant. Both workshops together are priced at $35 and include a copy of The Horse Charmer, number one of Terri Farley's Wild Horse Island series. Lunch is included with each workshop and will take place between sessions, as will a visit from two miniature horses from Joanne Abramson's Pacific Pintos of Fort Bragg, a favorite of Ms. Farley's.

The Caspar Community Center is located at 15051 Caspar Road in the beautiful white-water view village of Caspar. Registration is currently taking place on a first-come, first-serve basis.
