CELEBRATE!

Dear Readers,
I'm sending hugs to each of you -- not virtual hugs or cyber hugs, but real, live hugs. My fingers are crossed that you're all focusing (like Sam looking at the world through the frame of Ace's ears) on celebrating what's important.
Already I've seen blogs online which are no more than an accounting of gifts received. Or not.
Presents are fun and of course my eyes are straying to what's under my Christmas tree, but I've had more fun cooking with my family and laughing around the dinner table.
I know that you are grateful at heart, because thousands of you have written to thank me for my books. Selfish people don't say thank-you much. So any time greed gnaws at you, it shouldn't be too tough to just revert to your true nature by:
-- thinking of families who'd give anything for the gift of safe drinking water or a day without gunfire
-- smiling at your sister, brother, weird cousin or loud uncle instead of bickering (Terri's tips: keep quiet as you smile, because a one-sided argument is SO unsatisfying OR smile at the space just to the right of your antagonist's right ear, and when s/he turns to see who or what's behind them -- make your escape!)
- throwing kisses to busy, up-to-their-elbows in mashed potatoes or masa or computer manuals parents
-- searching out four-legged creatures craving your assurance that they haven't been forgotten

Celebrating the gifts of love, reading, good food and YOU,
Terri
